Wedding Hairstyle Ideas

I have an image in my head of what hairstyle I want for the wedding: an updo with curls in the back, and parted on the side, but tucked in. Its best for me to have my hair up for the wedding, because my hair is naturally wavy and loves to be messy! I have to straighten it or style it every day, and I don’t want to worry about it on the wedding day. I also think updos are very elegant and classy. Here are some pictures that are similar to what I want, but instead of puffy in the back (like the 3rd picture) I want all curls.

I hear it is best to have a “practice run”, but with updos costing around $75-$100, this will not be the cheapest way to go! Maybe I will give myself some time to have the hair dresser fix it if I am unhappy instead…What do you think?

Wedding Reception Location Possibility #1

Here is one of the wedding reception locations I am considering for our wedding. It is the Cascades restaurant at the Rancho Vista Golf Course in California. The grounds are kept very well, everything is so green and there are plenty of trees. There is even a gorgeous waterfall just outside the banquet room window! There was an event going on, so you can’t see the inside very well. The staff was really friendly and seemed professional. Overall, it looks like a wonderful location for a wedding reception of about 150 people or less.

Guest Book Table

It seems like there are a ton a different tables to worry about decorating for the wedding reception. There are the actual dinner tables, the guest book table, the seating card table, the cake table, the gift table….it can seem overwhelming at first to make each one unique, but still keep the theme flowing throughout them all! Lets start with the guest book table…Some couples choose to have an entry table to their wedding reception with a welcome sign with an engagement photo of them on the table with the guest book or a wish bowl, and maybe a few candles. While this is very traditional, a really nice idea would be to ask your parents and grandparents, as well as the groom’s, for their wedding photos to display on the table as well. It immediately gives the reception location a warm “at-home” ambiance, and includes those closest to you. You can also have a larger spread with wedding photos from everyone in your family. Here are some photos of guest book tables with family photos I really liked.

You can decorate the table further by making your own candles…more on that later!

Different Bridesmaid Dresses?

There are many reasons to have different bridesmaid dresses. Maybe your bridesmaids are different shapes and sizes, and one girl might prefer a certain style over another. Or maybe one has to ALWAYS wear black to everything, and another hates black…No matter what the issue is, thankfully there are many ways you can still keep some similarity between all of the girls and still let them choose their own style. Here are three popular choices.

1) Same color, different style:

2) Same syle, different colors:

3) Different styles, different colors:

Choosing a Wedding Cake Topper

The days of traditional wedding cake toppers are long gone. Many brides now choose a more non-traditional topper for their wedding cake that better fits the bride and groom’s personality. After browsing the web, I found some really unique ones!

There are many to choose from, and most cost around $40.00. I consider myself pretty traditional, so I think I will go with a more conservative topper. Here are my favorite so far:
You can create custom toppers here by engraving anything you want. Pretty cool! What wedding cake topper would you pick?

How To Ask Your Friend To Be A Bridesmaid In Your Wedding

These days it seems like everything is done over Facebook. If someone’s relative dies, it ends up in my newsfeed…if someone has a baby, it ends up in my newsfeed…I even know people who have broken up with their significant other over Facebook! So naturally you might be tempted to ask your closest friends to be your bridesmaids in your wedding through a Facebook message. Its the easiest way, especially if they are not all living in the same location. Not to insult anyone who has done this, but it might be a bit more personal to send them a nice card in the mail (it doesn’t take more than a Facebook message to ask for their address) or give them that overdue phone call. I know I would like to be asked this way over a text or Facebook message.

I came across this great website for some card ideas to send to your girlfriends: http://www.bridesmaid-cards.com/. If you don’t want to purchase pre-made cards, why not make them yourself? A quick trip to Michaels or another art supply store to buy some cardstock, construction paper, ribbon, pop-up stickers, etc. will do the trick!
